Alex Zammit

Trumpet Tutor at the George Vella Music school within Għaqda Mużikali Marija Bambina, Banda Vittorja, Naxxar

At the age of 9, Alex started his musical studies at Mount Carmel Band Club in Gzira, under the tuition Saviour Portelli. He continued studying with Fr. Albert Borg, where he achieved theory and practical exams at the Royal School of Music. Alex intensified his trumpet practice studies with Paul Borg and Kevin Abela. With regards to theory studies, he underwent lessons with Ronnie Debattista and Dr. Lydia Buttigieg. 

On the 13th of April, 2004, he joined the AFM Band as a bandsman, where for nine years was a core part of the drums’ section. There, Alex obtained practical exams on drumkit and snare drum with the Trinity College London.

Currently, he holds the position of Sub Leader in the Cornet Section at the AFM Band, where he participated in both local and foreign ceremonial displays and Military Tattoos. Such places include, Malta, Belgium, Russia, Germany, Switzerland and The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Alex also plays the Flugel Horn with the AFM Combo Band and forms part of the AFM Brass Quintet and Ensemble.

As a musician, Alex also performs as a soloist with various band clubs and forms part of the Brass House Unit.
