As part of a project named “Gathering Youths through Arts” a Summer Art Course with Mr John Paul Muscat (Art Teacher) taking place in the local band club (Għaqda Mużikali Marija Bambina Banda Vittorja Naxxar). This course will be opened for Primary school students that will be in Year 5 & Year 6 (8 to 10 years old) as from the next scholastic year 2018 – 2019. These lessons will primarily help the students to unfold their creativity by looking at Art from a diverse perspective.
The Art Lessons will also be hands-on and structured in such a way that the final artworks conducted by the pupils attending these lessons will then be exhibited on the day of the Final Concert. This is due to the fact that some of the lessons will be devoted to the theme the Final Concert will be based on. The exhibition will take place in the Oratory Hall entrance. The exhibited work will be consisting of 2-D (two-dimensional) and 3-D (three-dimensional) work.

With regard to this, through these lessons, children will also learn and familiarize themselves with different techniques (such as wax-crayons and watercolours resist, drawing and shading in pencil colours. and watercolours, cut-art and glueing (inspired by French artist Henri Matisse), collages (inspired by Spanish artist, Pablo Picasso), etc… Children will experiment with mixed-media drawings such as utilising watercolours, pencil colours, wax crayons, collages with bits and pieces of kite paper and magazine cut-outs. They will also familiarize themselves with Art History and artists in relation to the particular theme we would be currently dealing with (ex. Theme of Love – Romero Britto).
The 8 week-8 sessions course will be taking place during the months of July and August.
